Butler Amusements Used Safety Culture to Boost Bottom Line

general hero alt text

Butler Amusements is an amusement park company whose pop-up carnivals and presence at county and state fairs are a summer staple in many parts of California and the west. The management takes safety seriously. As you might imagine, putting up, maintaining, running, and taking down carnival rides presents all kinds of safety risks. In recent years, the employer created a Safety Culture in the workplace by creating a mobile safety training space. They also installed a new ventilation system, thanks in part to advice from State Fund.

State Fund helped the enterprise identify and mitigate safety risks such as worker falls from rides and respiratory dangers from welding and painting fumes. Butler’s commitment to worker safety not only ensured that their employees knew they cared about their wellbeing and ability to keep working, but it also paid financial dividends.

What did that mean, exactly? A whopping $300,000 in savings. Butler Amusements decided to use the money to invest in their business and buy a new carnival ride.

Management found that a safety culture not only protected treasured workers, it also boosted their bottom line.
